A short character study juxtaposing the relationship between a murderer and his daughter and that of the same man and his murderer.

Ed, after being released from prison, attempts to re-connect with his daughter, Cara and following a failed conversation in a local diner, he heads home with a heavy heart. Upon his arrival, Ed is confronted by a young man, John, who has broken in and plans on taking his life.

INT. DINER - NIGHT
Ed sits with a cup of coffee in front of him. A young woman walks inside. He stands up and smiles; she ignores his gesture and sits down. Ed sits down across from her, still smiling.

ED
You look good.

She nods.

ED
Thanks for coming all this way. Did
it take you long?

CARA
No.

ED
Good. I hoped it wasn’t too far.

CARA
It wasn’t.

"Creatures" is a film about human connection as seen through a comparative lens between two very different relationships with one man. It is about the struggle to communicate with family that you have betrayed versus the ease with which the main character, Ed, can communicate with someone very much like himself–his murderer. The juxtaposition of these two relationships is intended to act as a character study exposing the way in which man is inherently a creature.
